Tidy Man

Christmas fast food litter campaign

According to ENCAMS (Keep Britain Tidy), the number of discarded food litter items on our streets has risen from just 4% to a staggering 22% in the last 5 years.

This fast food litter problem has led to a huge increase in the rat population which feasts on the food that is dropped on the floor.

Environmental Information Officers encouraged late night revellers to use a bin and keep the streets of Wolverhampton litter and rat-free during the festive season in 2006.

Fixed Penalty Notices of £60 were issued to anyone witnessed dropping litter, including food litter, chewing gum and cigarette butts.

For further information, please contact our Environmental Information Officers in Licensing and Support Services.
