Anti-cigarette litter campaign
Wolverhampton City Council's Environmental Information Officers, with the help of Bluey (pictured), distributed 2500 personal ButtsOut ashtrays in an attempt to stub-out the cigarette litter problem in the city.
The campaign, from 3 to 8 April 2006, was a huge success.
Environmental Enforcement Officers were also on hand during the campaign, along with West Midlands Police, to issue Fixed Penalty Notices to those witnessed dropping litter on the streets.
Since 1 April to 11 May 2006, a total of 28 Fixed Penalty Notices have been issued to people witnessed dropping cigarette litter.
