Recruiting NQTs

A pool is in operation for primary applicants and a register for secondary applicants, both of which are operated in partnership with the Black Country School Improvement Partnership (BCSIP), who provide an on-line application process.

The Application Process - Primary

All primary applications received by the respective closing date are considered against the criteria outlined in the person specification, and  the current professional duties of a teacher, as outlined in the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions document.

A team of Local Education Authority (LEA) Officers and Headteachers from across the Black Country conducts shortlistings for interviews.

Two references are requested for all shortlisted candidates, prior to interview. It is therefore important that you confirm with your referees that you may use their names as a referee.

The next round of interviews in 2006 will be held on:

  • Tuesday 7th to Friday 10th March

Each interview will last for approximately 30 minutes. The panels will consist of LEA Officers and Headteachers from across the Black Country.

The purpose of the interview is to ascertain how your skills, knowledge and experience correspond to the person specification.

Interviews are stressful and it is recognised that there are many highly competent individuals who have difficulty in demonstrating their competence at interview. That is why all our interviewers receive interview skills training and will make every effort to put you at ease so that you are able to demonstrate your skills, experience and motivation to work in the Black Country.

You will be contacted in writing shortly after your interview to confirm the outcome of your interview and explain the post interview process.

The application process - Secondary

Upon receipt of your application form, your details will be entered onto a Secondary database and references will be requested. Your details will then be accessed by Headteachers with vacancies, who may invite you for interview.

There is no set closing date for Secondary applications, however, it is advisable that you apply as early as possible. You are also welcome to apply for any vacancies advertised in the media or on the internet.
