Education Development Plan

Legislation for Local Education Authorities (LEAs) to produce Education Development Plans (EDPs) was repealed on the 1st March 2005 through the Children Act 2004, which will also introduce the Children and Young People's Plan (CYPP).

Local Education Authorities will continue to plan for school improvement, taking into account Government priorities and local circumstances. However, the EDP is not now required to be submitted to the Department for Education and Skills.   LEAs are now preparing the Children and Young People's Plan (CYPP), which will be in place for all relevant authorities by April 2006.

Requirements for LEAs to submit targets will continue unchanged.
