Wolverhampton Healthy Schools Programme

Wolverhampton Healthy Schools Programme (WHSP) is a nationally accredited programme, which aims to help schools:

  • Reduce health inequalities;
  • Raise standards;
  • Promote social inclusion; and
  • Support children and young people in developing healthy behaviours.

The programme works with schools to fulfill the PSHE Curriculum using four core themes:

  1. PSHE including Sex & Relationships Education and Drugs Education (including alcohol, tobacco and volatile substance abuse);
  2. Healthy Eating;
  3. Physical Activity; and
  4. Emotional Health and Well Being (including bullying)

Once a school has signed up to the programme, the team of specialists will be available to:

  • Provide staff and governor training;
  • Advise on policy development;
  • Create links between partner agencies and the school e.g. theatre companies, YMCA, TPU
