Consultation - Revised Home to School Travel Policy

We are intending to introduce some significant changes to home-to-school transport eligibility from the 2010/11 academic year.

The consultation about proposals that will affect faith-based transport to schools will close on 9 January 2009.

The changes are of two types.

Increased entitlement

Firstly, there is increased entitlement which is income-based and the legal requirement of this is already being applied now.

Reduced entitlement

There are also reduced entitlement changes affecting special needs, faith transport and single sex transport.  The Council is proposing to delete the historic entitlement to transport to a "nearest school offering education in sympathy with the practised religious denomination of the parent".
