Capital Funding for School Buildings

Capital funding can be used to build new school premises, to re-build a school, for building repairs and maintenance and for extensions and modernisation work.

There are a number of different types of capital funding available from the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).  Most capital funding is now allocated to schools and local authorities (LAs) by needs-related formulae, so that they can decide how it can be invested.

Further information regarding capital funding for schools can be found at http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/schoolscapital
