Behaviour and Education Support teams (B.E.S.T.)

What are Behaviour and Education Support Teams (B.E.S.T.)

Multi-agency teams that offer support to young people and families who live in the Bushbury, Low Hill and Bilston areas of Wolverhampton.

Bushbury, Low Hill and Bilston B.E.S.T. teams

There are three B.E.S.T’s and each team is made up of people from different professions who work with children, families and schools to promote and support the behavioural, social, emotional and educational development of children age 0 – 19.

Agencies represented on the B.E.S.T's include Educational Psychologists, Learning Support Teachers, Education Welfare Officers, Social Inclusion Pupil Support Workers, Youth Workers, Connexions Positive Activities for Young People Keyworkers, Social Workers, Assistant Psychologists from Child and Family Services, School Nurses and Police Officers.

Why might I need help?

Here are some of the issues that B.E.S.T’s might be able to help with:

  • Children who are not attending school or at risk of being excluded.
  • Children and families reacting to change, such as parental separation or divorce, or bereavement.
  • Children who are withdrawn.
  • Children experiencing bullying.
  • Children who require additional educational support or assessments.
  • Children at risk of getting into trouble with the police.

What support do B.E.S.T. provide?

We work in a number of different ways, and will discuss with you what the best approach is with your child.

For example we can provide:

  • Counselling sessions for children and their families
  • Project work with groups of children
  • Access to social and recreational opportunities
  • Parenting programmes.
  • Mediation
  • Health advice
  • Drop in session for parents and carers
  • Advice and support to schools, parents, carers and children
  • Educational, behavioural and emotional assessments
  • On going one to one support

How do I access support from B.E.S.T?

If you are in Bushbury, Low Hill or Bilston and you are concerned about your child and you feel they may benefit from some help or if you would like to talk to someone and get advice.  You can contact by phone the appropriate B.E.S.T. Centre.
