The HE Maintenance Grant

The new HE Maintenance Grant will replace the HE grant for new students starting a course of Higher Education in 2006/07. It is a non repayable, means tested grant of up to £2,700 per annum.

Students with household incomes of £17,500 or less (including single independent students) will receive the full £2,700 HE maintenance grant. Students with household incomes above £17,501 will receive a partial grant, with a minimum grant of £50 payable once household income reaches £37,425.

Existing students will continue to receive the HE grant of up to £1,000, as well as the fee remission grant and will also be able to take out a loan to cover any assessed fee contribution.
