Secondary school admissions

Types of School

Community Schools

There are eight Community secondary schools in Wolverhampton. As the admitting authority, the Local Authority will offer places for these schools.

 

Academies

There are two Academies in Wolverhampton. The South Wolverhampton & Bilston Academy opened on 1 September 2009 and North East Wolverhampton Academy which opened on 1 September 2010.

Foundation Schools

Wolverhampton has three Foundation schools.  The School's governors are the admitting authority and will decide who can be offered a place at the school based on the school's admission criteria.

Voluntary Aided Schools

There are four Voluntary Aided secondary schools in

Wolverhampton. The Governing Body of each of

these schools is the admitting authority for that

school.

 

What do you need to apply for a Secondary School Place?

Application packs will be distributed to parents via their child's primary school in early September 2011.

The preferred method for applying is by using the online application system.  Applicants who use the online system will benefit from the following:

  • Applications are made through a

    secure website.

  • Applications can be viewed / edited online

    up to the closing date for applications

    (31 October 2011).

  • Ensures that the applicant enters all the

    mandatory information needed to make

    an application.

  • More space for applicants to enter reasons

    for preference, rather than using the limited

    space available on the paper form.

  • Able to view allocations online on 1 March 2012, rather than waiting a couple of days for the allocation letter to arrive.

Supplementary evidence forms and Exam registration forms

 

Foundation and Voluntary Aided schools require applicants to complete additional forms.  Copies of the forms are included in the application packs and are also available below.  Please note that any supplementary forms need to be completed using a paper copy which should be returned directly to the school.

 

S. Peter's Collegiate CoE School

 

The supplementary evidence form will be used by the school governors to ascertain whether they can offer your child a place at the school if it is over-subscribed.  Please ensure you have read and understood the school's admission arrangements on pages 60-63 of the "Secondary Education in Wolverhampton" booklet.

 

S Peters 2012-2013

 

The King's School

 

The supplementary evidence form will be used by the school governors to ascertain whether they can offer your child a place at the school if it is over-subscribed. Please ensure you have read and understood the school's admission arrangements on pages 48-51 of the "Secondary Education in Wolverhampton" booklet.

 

Kings 2012-2013

 

St Edmund's Catholic School

 

The supplementary evidence form will be used by the school governors to ascertain whether they can offer your child a place at the school if it is over-subscribed. Please ensure you have read and understood the school's admission arrangements on pages 55-59 of the "Secondary Education in Wolverhampton" booklet.

 

Catholic children receive a higher priority than non-catholic children, therefore, evidence of baptism will also need to be provided if your child is Catholic.

 

St Edmunds 2012-2013

 

Our Lady & St Chad Catholic School

 

The supplementary evidence form will be used by the school governors to ascertain whether they can offer your child a place at the school if it is over-subscribed. Please ensure you have read and understood the school's admission arrangements on pages 52-54 of the "Secondary Education in Wolverhampton" booklet.

 

Catholic children receive a higher priority than non-catholic children, therefore, evidence of baptism will also need to be provided if your child is Catholic.

 

OLSC 2012-2013

Wolverhampton Girls' High School

Admission to Year 7 is determined by the performance of candidates in an entrance examination and by the availability of places.

To register for the entrance exam please complete the attached exam registration form.
