Courses and learning for adults

We are committed to promoting lifelong learning opportunities to its residents. We want to encourage as many people as possible to continue to learn throughout their lives.

We provide a range of high quality day and evening courses.

Our courses provide great opportunities to pick up new skills or develop existing interests, at a time, place and pace that suits you.

Our teaching and support staff are committed to helping every one of you to achieve your goals.

You can also contact LearnDirect for information on courses. They can be contacted on 0800 100 900 or at the LearnDirect website

LearnDirect offer courses for everyone from beginners to advanced and everyone in-between. You can learn about computers, the Internet and presentation skills or just come to improve your reading and writing.

LearnDirect is a flexible way of learning. Once you have enrolled on a Learndirect course you can learn wherever you've got Internet access, at home, at work, or at a Learndirect centre.

LearnDirect is a self-managed programme, offering interactive discovery and learning to support development both in identifying personal strengths and work-related skills. It can also help with career progression.

Fees

If the course you want to study has fees attached, you may get help towards the cost if you fall into one of the following categories:

  • you are in receipt of a means tested state benefit
  • you are an unwaged dependent of someone who is in receipt of a means tested state benefit
  • you are an asylum seeker in receipt of an equivalent means tested state benefit
  • you are in receipt of job seeker's allowance (JSA).
