Literacy, Numeracy and GCSEs

Do you want to develop your English and Maths?

Would you like to practise your skills with other people, while learning what you need?

Are you a beginner?

Do you need to brush up your skills for work or other courses?

We can help you learn with a choice of courses to suit you.

We want you to have the confidence to use your skills. You need to bring enthusiasm and a desire to learn.

Whatever your aim, we can work with you.

You don't need any previous qualifications.
We assess your skills before you join a group.
Experienced staff are available to support you.
You can mix with people from different countries and backgrounds.
These courses are of different lengths, and you are likely to find one at a time which suits you.
Qualifications and Progression:

Qualifications are available at Entry Level in Literacy and Numeracy and at Levels 1 and 2 in the National Tests in Literacy and Numeracy.
These can lead on to:

Access courses and Professional Studies courses;
“Step into Learning”, which can lead to City and Guilds 9295 at Level 2, Certificate in Adult Learner Support (Literacy, Numeracy and ESOL), and Childcare Qualifications at Level 3.
Literacy and Numeracy:

Separate classes in literacy and numeracy, from Pre-Entry to Entry 3.
Preparation for Work:

Supports people with a learning disability to prepare for work.
Learning to Succeed:

English and Maths at Level 1 and Level 2, in a structured course.
A series of 3-week tasters, in various subjects.
Step in to Learning:

For Early Years staff in any setting.
About 16 hours attendance, with assignments.
Helps staff to recognise parents/carers who may need literacy or numeracy support.
Gives staff knowledge to tell parents and carers what courses are available.
Can be delivered anywhere.
For all subjects:

6-week courses start September, November, January, February, April and June.
11 and 12-week courses start September, January and April.
