Our family learning team works with you and your children.
Our aim is to help you to learn together. Courses are offered throughout the city, and venues include nurseries, community centres, libraries and schools.
You can choose from a wide range of courses to meet your family’s needs in one of two main areas.
Family Literacy, Language and Numeracy (FLLN)
We can help you to improve your family’s skills with reading and writing (Literacy), using numbers and solving problems (Numeracy), and speaking and listening
Short Springboard courses will develop your literacy, language and numeracy skills, while Early Start courses will develop your speaking and listening skills, ideal if your children are aged under three.
Wider family learning (WFL)
Take part in fun activities including arts, crafts and languages to encourage you and your children to learn together.
Need ideas to help your child with their school work? Then try a Share course. Help Your Child to Succeed is full of fun-packed activities and games, with tips for learning together.
We support the National Bookstart Programme. Family learning sessions take place in selected libraries for parents with children aged under five.
