What is eBilling?

eBilling is a secure web portal similar to 'online banking' that allows City of Wolverhampton Council customers to manage their payments with us, as well as access a range of other council services.

Who can use eBilling?

Any resident within the city who pays Council Tax to the City of Wolverhampton Council can sign up for a 'My Account' which gives them access to eBilling

What can I do through eBilling?

You can view a range of information relating to your Council Tax account. The service allows you to:

  • view and print copies of your Council Tax bills and statements 
  • check to see that any payment you've made has been entered onto your account 
  • get automatic notifications of when new information becomes available online 

What are the benefits of using eBilling?

Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the secure online system means you can access your Council Tax account information at a time and place that's convenient for you. it is easy and free to use.

Accessed via your personal 'My Account', residents are given a digital choice in how they access council services. It means that you don't need to spend time on hold or queuing up to ask a simple query and can quickly logon to access instant and up-to-date account information.

Viewing your bills and statements online will also help us to use tax payers' money more effectively and efficiently by cutting down on administration costs, such as printing and postage. Using less paper will help to save the environment.

Is it safe to use?

The City of Wolverhampton Council is committed to protecting your privacy online and takes every effort to ensure your personal details are kept safe, secure and used for specific lawful purposes. Data held in respect of your account/s is held in accordance with current Data Protection legislation in force.

My Account and eBilling are secure and require you to register and carry out appropriate levels of authentication before any secure account data can be accessed. Although we take steps to ensure our websites and links are virus free, you are always advised to ensure that you have adequate anti-virus protection on your computer. You are also responsible for keeping your Username and Password confidential to prevent unauthorised viewing of your account. Please contact us as soon as possible if you suspect either of the above have been compromised.

What happens if I move house?

You have to register for each Council Tax account that you want to see online by entering your Council Tax account and post code. If you move to a new address we will send you your first bill through the post as a notification of your new account number. You can then add this new council tax account to your  eBilling section on My Account portal. The details contained in the paper bill will be available online as soon as you register the new account number and all future bills for that account will be issued electronically.

How do I sign up and use eBilling?

Before you start, you'll need:

  • To register for My Account
  • Your council tax account number 
  • Your postcode

You will need to enter an unlock code to be able to access your account/s, which will only need to be done the first time you go online. Once you have requested access to an account, you'll be sent an unlock code to the email address provided when you registered (usually within a few minutes).
