Have your say on substance misuse services
Released: Thursday November 17, 2011
People are being invited to have their say on plans to develop substance misuse services in Wolverhampton.
The existing services on offer in the city are being modernised to fit in with the new national drugs strategy, which brings together all services treating substance misuse including dependence on illicit drugs, alcohol and legal highs.
The new focus for these services will be on the individual, rather than the drugs or alcohol that they are using, and will be designed to offer the best possible help to support people in their recovery.
Wolverhampton City Council and Wolverhampton City Primary Care Trust (PCT) will be holding a series of consultation workshops so that people can have their say on how the national strategy can best be implemented locally.
Themed workshops will take place on Tuesday December 13 and Wednesday December 14, 2011, and Wednesday January 18, 2012, at the All Nations Christian Centre, Temple Street, Wolverhampton.
Dr Adrian Phillips, Wolverhampton’s Director of Public Health, said: “We know that substance misuse affects many individuals and communities in Wolverhampton. We want treatment services to provide the best outcomes so that people can return to work and communities can feel safer.”
A workshop will also take place on Wednesday January 25, 2012, at the Goldthorn Hotel, Penn Road, Wolverhampton. Places on the workshops must be booked in advance.
To book a place on the workshop, or to find out more about the consultation, please call 01902 550694 or 551040, email participation.team@wolverhampton.gov.uk or visit www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/involvingyou or www.wolvespct.nhs.uk.
