St John Ambulance to launch National Schools Week
Released: Februday February 5, 2010
School children across Wolverhampton will be swapping blazers for bandages as they take part in St John Ambulance’s National Schools Week.
The nation’s leading first aid charity is launching the first ever National Schools Week during the week of 8-12 February and schools across Wolverhampton are taking part. The week will offer an opportunity for pupils who are members of St John Ambulance to demonstrate their first aid knowledge with their fellow classmates. It also aims to raise awareness about the importance of first aid training in schools and the various volunteering opportunities available to young people.
St John Ambulance youth members – Badgers aged five to ten and Cadets aged 10 to 18 – will be showcasing their achievements and inspiring pupils and teachers to take part in some training. St John Ambulance schools training teams will also be getting involved, visiting pupils to show them the benefits of learning first aid.
Some of the schools taking part include Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy, Hill Avenue Primary School, Coppice High School, Heath Park High School and Our Lady and St Chads.
