New opening hours on trial at Pendeford library
Released: Friday Octoder 2, 2009
A Wolverhampton library will be the first to open it’s doors to borrowers on a Sunday this week as a trial period of Sunday opening begins.
Pendeford library on Whitburn Close will open from 11am to 3pm every Sunday for the next six months.
Starting from this weekend and running until March 28 2010, the trial will be measured on the number of books that are borrowed as well as the number of customers who visit.
If the move proves popular, it is a scheme that may be extended across the city.
City Librarian, Karen Lees explained: “We are aware that the needs of our borrowers are changing and that our library service needs to continue to reflect these changes.
“Although many of our 15 libraries open on Saturdays and have late night opening, people have more family time on Sundays and we hope that they will choose to visit Pendeford library and see what Wolverhampton libraries have to offer.”
“Not everyone realises that it’s free to join a library, free to borrow books and it’s also free to use the Internet here – and at every library in Wolverhampton”, she added.
