Alley gating is a crime preventative measure which involves erecting steel, self-locking gates to the ends of alleyways and passages. Alley gating can protect an alleyway from anti-social behaviour. It helps to minimise annoyances from anti-social behaviour including dog fouling and drinking and drug-taking.
