Mortuaries

Regulated under Section 198 of the Public Health Act 1936, the Public Mortuary service is located on Alfred Squire Road, directly adjacent to Wednesfield Police Station.

We provide a Public Mortuary service administered by our Bereavement Service. 

The Wednesfield Public Mortuary is the only facility within Wolverhampton equipped to carry out post mortems.  It carries out more than 500 post mortems each year for the Coroner and the Health Authority. 

The facilities and equipment benefited from a major refurbishment during 2002/3, providing new refrigeration equipment, and upgrading the post mortem facilities.
