Street collections
If a charity wishes to collect money door to door or in a public place, a 'Street Collection Permit' is required.
Street collections are regulated by permit to avoid the public being annoyed by excessive collecting. If too many street collections take place, people may stopping donating and affect the fundraising of charities.
Applying for a street collection permit
Applications for street collection permits should be made to the Licensing and Support Services at least 28 days before the collection takes place.
Reasonable notice allows Licensing and Support Services to make enquiries on your behalf with colleagues in other parts of the Council and with the local Police.
