Equalities and diversity
What is equality and diversity?
Equality is about making sure that people from different groups and communities have the same life opportunities.
It is not about treating everyone the same as they may have different needs to achieve the same outcomes.
Diversity is about recognising and valuing individual differences and raising awareness about them.
Our commitment
We are committed to equality, diversity and social inclusion.
We want a city where inequality gaps are closed and people from all communities live and work together with mutual understanding and respect.
We are committed to securing genuine equality of opportunity, whether required by law or not, in all aspects of our activities as an employer and service provider.
We recognise that passive policies will not reverse discrimination and disadvantage so we will proactively work with local communities to ensure that barriers to equality are removed.
