Global Enterprise Week - Thursday November 19, 2009. 10am to 2.30pm, Newhampton Centre

City of Wolverhampton College has joined forces with the enterprise charity Enterprise UK, to help budding entrepreneurs from Wolverhampton to turn their skill, hobby or business idea into a successful business.

The free event at City of Wolverhampton College’s Newhampton Campus will offer advice and support to anyone who is thinking of setting up their own business and offer practical information to help people make that all important first step. Local banks, business agencies and support organisations have already pledged their support.

Women into Construction - Friday November 20, 2009. Wellington Road Campus

Jobcentre Plus have been asked to send out a brief note  to partner organisations to promote an event being held in Wolverhampton on Friday November 20, 2009.

Wolverhampton Homes are organising a women into Construction event at the City of Wolverhampton College, Wellington Road Campus.

The event is aimed at unemployed women and has been designed to encourage women to become involved in the construction industry.  Attendees can take part in practical activities like carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.

The regional development agency Advantage West Midlands have created an online resource for local companies during the recession.

Tailored support and guidance

Local agencies have developed tailored support for businesses during the economic downturn including advice and support, through real help with finance from Business Link, containing advice on:

  • enterprise finance guarantee
  • working capital scheme
  • capital for enterprise fund
  • enterprise capital funds
  • regional loan transition fund
  • other financial support including loans and overdrafts

You will also be able to obtain tax advice from HM Revenue and Customs and business redundancy advice from Jobcentre Plus.
