Consumer education in schools

There are various resources available to teaching staff to assist with consumer education activities. The websites below may be of interest.

Consumer Education Resource and Information Centre (CEdRIC)

Ask CEdRIC aims to provide consumer educators and teachers with all they need to teach the consumer education related aspects of the Citizenship curriculum.

Ask CEdRIC has areas suitable for Key Stage 1 to 4 and has been designed to fit in with the Citizenship curriculum and the National Consumer Education Partnership framework.

Designed by youngsters for youngsters No-ur-Rites aims to explain your shopping rights.

The Smart Shopper's Guide 

The Smart Shopper's Guide is designed to enable teachers to give pre-leaver students of 14 years old and above, (including those with Special Educational Needs) - a basic grounding in their consumer rights and to help them to make considered choices.

It will also tell them about a number of the tricks and traps that they should watch out for in the world of the consumer.

Money Made Clear 

Money Made Clear is an impartial information from the Financial Services Authority (FSA), the watchdog on banking, insurance, mortgages and other financial products.
