Latest scams

Avoid getting stung by the latest scams.  The links below provide information on the way attempts are made to defraud both consumers and businesses.

  • Office of Fair Trading - Scams - have you received a letter claiming you've won a foreign lottery? or been told you can earn £1,000 a week working from home? or perhaps a clairvoyant can predict your future?

  • 'Safe From Scams' - practical advice on avoiding both consumer and many other types of scams, such as identity theft, credit card scams and ebay scams.

Advice has also been published by Trading Standards for businesses, specifically in relation to publicity, marketing and invoice scams that aim to get around company systems in order to extract money.
