Environmental Services Enforcement Policy Consultation
Environmental Services as part of the Council's Sustainable Communities Cluster, delivers the authorities prime regulatory functions in relation to a breadth of activities as diverse as counterfeiting, food safety, dog fouling, flytipping, licensing, weights and measures, rogue traders, health and safety, infectious disease control, animal welfare and public nuisances to name only a few.
Enforcement is a significant part of Environmental Services business. We therefore aim to deliver a targeted, proportionate and consistent enforcement regime based on the needs of our local communities, that enables us to deal with offenders fairly, effectively and as quickly as possible.
The policies below apply to all our regulatory activites. They have been approved by Council Members and are followed and applied by our enforcement officers in carrying out their duties.
In the development and refinement of our policies in the past we have traditionally engaged with and consulted a variety of stakeholders including the city's major employers, the Police, Chamber of Commerce, Business Link, Neighbourhood Groups, the Food Standards Agency and the Health and Safety Executive etc.
We recognise the importance and value of the views of the City's residents and visitors in this process and we are actively seeking the views of all community, business and other groups and individuals in the ongoing development of our policies.
If you have any views you would like to express in relation to any of our enforcement policies, please contact us by email at environmental.services@wolverhampton.gov.uk
