Animal health
Local Authorities are responsible for the enforcement of animal health and welfare legislation both for domestic and farmed animals.
The legislation covers for example the;
- Welfare of animals on farms, small holdings or at domestic premises
- Welfare of animals during transport
- The identification of animals on farm and during transport
- The cleansing and disinfection of farm or transport vehicles to prevent the spread of disease
- The transport and disposal of animal by products
