LDV Taskforce

In response to the announcement on Monday June 8, 2009 that Birmingham-based van manufacturer LDV has been placed into administration, support agencies from across the West Midlands have come together to offer a single free phone support line offering advice and support to anyone affected by the ruling.

The phone line has been set up by the LDV Taskforce, a multi-agency body led by Birmingham City Council and including, Jobcentre Plus, Advantage West Midlands, the Learning and Skills Council, Accelerate and neighbouring local authorities.

A phone line will provide a single point from which workers, suppliers, and local communities alike can access a wide range of support and advice services.

LDV Taskforce - Phone: 08000 730 440

Councillor Neville Summerfield of Birmingham City Council and the LDV Taskforce Chair, said: "Being able to provide a single free number through which anyone can access all the local support agencies is of the utmost importance at such a difficult and stressful time.

"Whether it is information on council benefits, job seekers allowance, training opportunities, support for the supply chain or debt advice, this number will provide a single point of reference for anyone affected by the fall-out of LDV’s demise."

As well as launching its freephone number, the Taskforce is also seeking to work with the court appointed administrator to make direct contact with LDV workers, and offer support and advice 'on the ground' near to the LDV factory and communities in which its workers live.
