Showell Park, Low Hill

Plans are underway to create a mixed-use redevelopment scheme at Showell Park, Low Hill close to the city centre and Wolverhampton Science Park.

The planning permission for a mix of two, three and four bedroom flats and houses is now granted.

The development by Keepmoat Homes is underway and many houses are now occupied.

In addition to the Affordable Housing and Environmental Design awards won last year in the Birmingham Post and Mail Housing Design Awards, in March 2008 the scheme received the Silver (Highly Commended) Award for Best urban Regeneration in the Daily Telegraph Housing Awards.

Projects to bring forward the other two parts of the site, allocated for a sheltered housing scheme and primary health care facility, are also underway.

Accord Housing has started on site their very sheltered housing scheme linked to the Chris Laws Day Centre, another key part of the Low Hill South regeneration process.

A joint scheme by the  Wolverhampton City PCT and the City Council to develop a new primary health care centre at Fifth Avenue is at an advanced stage of planning.  The new centre will be the final part of the regeneration of Low Hill.
