Tendering for goods and services

Where are our contracts advertised?

Official Journal of the European Communities

For contracts above the EU threshold (around £140,000 total contract value) we advertise in the Official Journal of the European Union website.

Procurements using these processes can take 12 months to complete so if you are interested in tendering for these contracts please contact Corporate Procurement at least 12 months before the end of the present contract.

Supply2.Gov.UK

For contracts below £140,000 the Council advertises on Supply2.Gov.UK website is backed by Business Link and Government a new government-backed service designed specifically to give companies easy access to lower-value contract opportunities offered by the public sector.

Can I tender online?

No, not at the moment. We can't accept tenders online however we are working towards offering this service in the near future.

Help for tenderers

Government has launched an on-line procurement course “Winning the Contract”.  This is a FREE resource to help businesses (and in particular SMEs) learn about public procurement and how to bid for public sector contracts.  For more information see http://www1.learndirect-business.com/growing-and-developing-your-business/winning-the-contract/ or the course can be accessed via the Business Link webpage at:   www.businesslink.gov.uk/procurement

The course introduces businesses to the key procurement processes, including:

  • identifying the advantages and disadvantages of dealing with public bodies
  • understanding how different types of contracts are defined, advertised and dealt with
  • understanding approved supplier lists and framework agreements
  • searching for and finding public sector opportunities
  • identifying the key stages in the tendering process

It also has a useful Resource section, case studies, and a Hints and Tips download.
