Pavement licenses

Wolverhampton is a vibrant, growing city which is being transformed through new investment.

The difference can already be seen with newly pedestrianised areas, measures to control litter and graffiti, along with the promise of developments like Summer Row and the Transport Interchange.

To keep the city safe and attractive for residents, visitors and shoppers the council has powers to keep roads and footpaths clear of obstructions. This also makes it easier to move around the city for people with disabilities, parents with pushchairs or the elderly.

The council operates a licensing system to govern the use of certain items on roads or pavements to make sure the city is attractive and inviting for residents, businesses and visitors. These include, among others:
