Health and safety training
Employers are required under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 to provide information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to employees to ensure their health and safety.
With regards to training an employer may determine that staff need training at a level which they may not be able to provide, i.e. they are not competent to provide the training. For further information on formal training courses see the information below.
Where staff are trained by the employer or someone else appointed by the employer it is good practice to keep a record of the training provided. This will help to assist identification of further training needs/ refresher training as deemed appropriate.
Who provides health and safety training?
The Food and Environmental Safety Service do not currently provide health and safety training courses. However there are a number of organisations listed below which may provide further information on training courses.
