Priority programme topics

Authorised Officers from the Food and Environmental Safety Service will concentrate during health and safety inspections on things that are most likely to kill, injure and make people ill at work when undertaking a visit.

There are five key priority areas/topics that have been identified nationally as those causing the most work days lost due to work-related accidents and ill-health, these are:

It is these areas which are focussed on during inspections, together with other work activities pertinent to a businesses normal operations and any matters of evident concern.
