What is Fairtrade?

Many farmers and workers in developing countries struggle to provide for their families.

Sometimes the price they get for their crop doesn’t cover the cost of production, and things end up getting worse.

Fairtrade is a rapidly growing international movement which tries to guarantee a better deal for farmers and workers in the developing world. A certified product carries the Fairtrade mark.

Wolverhampton has been trading with the rest of the world since the 15th century and is proud of its diverse multicultural community and international links. Fairtrade gives us an opportunity to be a ‘good neighbour’ to our global partners.
