Development stages

Outline of the planning permission for the development of the i54 site for employment purposes was granted by both Wolverhampton City Council and South Staffordshire Council in March 2007. Further information is available about planning and copies of the planning permissions are available.

Site preparation works have been completed including removal of contaminated soil, earthworks to form development platforms, the construction of a site spine road, footpaths and cycleways, provision of drainage and landscaping.

The next stage is for the i54 project team together with Wolverhampton City Council to undertake community consultations on the proposed improvements to the highways junctions around the site to improve traffic flow during October and November 2007. Further information about and plans of the proposed highways improvements are available.

The site is to be marketed to attract potential developers, with a view to a lead development partner being selected during 2008.
