Young readers are making a splash during National Bookstart Week, which gets underway today (Monday 6 June, 2016).

Wolverhampton's libraries are supporting the annual event aimed at pre-school children and their families, with a host of free events taking place around the city based on the theme, "Under The Sea".

The programme begins with a Baby Book Time and craft session with Bookstart Bear at East Park Library today (Monday) from 10am to 11am.

On Tuesday, there's a Baby Book Time at Central Library from 10.15am to 11.15am and Story Time at Warstones Library from 2.30pm to 3pm.

Bilston Library hosts a Story Time on Wednesday from 11am to 11.30am, before local pupils enjoy a visit to Whitmore Reans Library on Wednesday afternoon for some "Pirate Mania".

Tettenhall Library has a Story Time on Thursday from 11am to 11.45am while there's another Baby Book Time at Springvale Library on Friday from 10.15 to 11am.

There are special Bookstart promotions at the Civic Centre today from 2pm to 5pm and Friday from 2pm to 3pm and at New Cross Hospital on Thursday from 2pm to 5pm with freebies up for grabs. A National Bookstart display can also be seen at the Civic Centre throughout the week.
