City of Wolverhampton Council Strategic Director: Place Tim Johnson will present Westside as a major development opportunity at the MIPIM UK Investors Forum today (Thursday 22 October).

MIPIM UK is the UK's largest exhibition and conference for property professionals. It provides a market place for key UK figures and international investors to meet, discuss projects and opportunities, and do business.

Johnson will be joined by Marie Bintley, Head of City Development, at the Olympia London National Hall event, which ends tomorrow.

It is also a chance to showcase Wolverhampton's regeneration plans, with £868 million investment in the city centre either currently on site or in the pipeline.

Councillor John Reynolds, Cabinet Member for City Economy, said: "MIPIM provides our officers with an excellent opportunity to kick off our extensive marketing of Westside.

"This is an exciting project for Wolverhampton and another significant step towards the transformation of our city centre.

"We look forward to seeing what proposals are put forward by developers in the future."

Developers at Wolverhampton Business Week at the end of last month got first sight of what the City of Wolverhampton Council's ambitious regeneration plans for Westside could look like.

New artist's impressions of Westside have now been created as the 6.4 acre site, which comprises 3 adjacent parcels of land in the freehold ownership of the council, officially goes to market.

It represents one of the most significant regeneration opportunities at the heart of the city centre and will deliver major mixed use development.

Situated adjacent to the new Sainsbury's supermarket on St Mark's ring road, the Westside site includes the Fold Street, Peel Street and School Street car parks.

The Council has already committed to carrying out the demolition of the existing indoor market and Heantun House, with the outdoor markets to be re-invigorated and modernised. It is expected the market will provide an asset to any new development by providing footfall and vitality.
