With the festive season at an end, Wolverhampton City Council will be collecting real Christmas trees from the kerbside from next week (12 January).

People can leave their real trees out next to their black bin on their normal scheduled recycling collection date between 12 and 23 January and they will be taken away.

The service is completely free and the collected trees will be recycled.

Councillor John Reynolds, cabinet member for city services, said: "We're delighted to be able to provide a free collection of people's real Christmas trees. It will mean people won't have to worry about taking it to the tip and is one less task during the busy new year to worry about.

"We would ask that people place it out on the kerbside alongside your black bin, but please don't put it inside the bin. We must also stress that these collections are for real Christmas trees only and not plastic ones."
