Macmillan Cancer Support is hosting a free Cancer Awareness and Support Day offering help and advice to people who want to know more about the disease.

The drop in session takes place in Wednesfield next Thursday (26 June, 2014) and will be an opportunity for people to meet local healthcare professionals and charity organisations and ask any questions they may have about cancer.

There will be information stands and workshops throughout the day on a range of subjects including types of treatment, exercise and diet, signs and symptoms, complementary therapies and finance and benefits.

Linda Turner, Macmillan Community Support and Information Manager in Wolverhampton, said: "You or someone you care for might have had an experience of cancer, you may be in good health but want to find out about any symptoms you should be looking for, or you might be an employer who wants to help a member of staff with cancer - whatever your interest, please drop in and find out more.

"Experts from a range of organisations will be on hand to answer your questions, and there will also be opportunities to find out how to get involved with volunteering or fundraising in the local community."

The Cancer Awareness and Support Day is supported by Wolverhampton City Council, The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, Wolverhampton Patient Advisory Cancer Team and local charities and healthcare organisations.

It takes place at Wednesfield Community Hub, Well Lane, from 11am to 6pm and for more information, either about the event or the help and support which Macmillan Cancer Support provides in Wolverhampton, please contact Linda Turner on 01902 550089 or email macmillan@wolverhampton.gov.uk.
