Still time to have a say about development of Warstones hub

People still have time to have their say about the creation of Warstones Community Service Hub.

The plans would see the former Warstones Resource Centre building on Warstones Drive converted into a hub offering a wide range of health, social care and community support services.

It would also be the new home for Warstones Library, offer drop-in activities and potentially be the home to a number of third sector organisations such as Age UK, Dementia Pathfinders and the Over 50s forum.

A 3 month engagement process into the proposals is well underway, and people are being encouraged to get involved.

The second of 2 public meetings will be held at the Warstones Drive building on Monday 25 November, 2013, from 10am to 12.30pm, and people can also take part in the engagement process by visiting Current consultations.

Councillor Elias Mattu, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Communities, said: "The community service hubs are a little bit different from the community hubs we're already developing in Wolverhampton in that, as well as library, community and youth services, they'll also offer a range of health and social care support.

"By bringing these vital services together under one roof, we hope to protect them in the face of unprecedented Government funding cuts - and also make it easier for people to access a wide range of help and support from the same location.

"We're keen to hear from as many people as possible about what sort of services they would like to see provided in their new community hub - this is a major development and it's really important that we get it right."

Anyone who would like to attend the engagement session on Monday 25 November is asked to call Participation Officer Rose Powell on 01902 555494 or email rose.powell@wolverhampton.gov.uk to reserve their place.

The consultation continues until Friday 6 December, 2013.
