Landlords urged to attend housing conference.

Private landlords from across the West Midlands are being urged to attend a special housing conference in Walsall at the end of the month.

Local councils across the region are hosting the Private Landlord conference at the Banks's Stadium, Walsall the home of Walsall Football Club to encourage private landlords to help make the best use of the region's housing stock.

The event is being organised by the West Midlands Making Best Use of Stock or WMBUS housing partnership, which is made up of 7 local authorities (Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton) and 19 housing associations.

Although the majority of the homes in the region are either owner occupied or owned by councils and housing associations, the number of properties owned by private landlords is increasing.

This, combined with the demand of rental accommodation greater than social housing providers can supply, means that councils are looking to private landlords to help them meet the region's housing needs.

The Private Landlord conference is being held at the Banks's Stadium, Bescot Stadium on Wednesday 30 October on behalf of the region's local authorities.

Topics being covered at the conference include: the future of the private rented sector, empty properties, standards, energy efficiency, welfare reform and landlord accreditation.

All private landlords and residential letting agents are invited to attend the free event.

Details of the programme for the day and how to book a place can be found on the WMBUS website at Type=links;Linkid=2971;Title=WMBUS Housing Partnership;Target=_blank; or you can call 01922 650927 or follow @WMBUS_LL_Conf
