Hypnotism consent

If you wish to show, demonstrate or perform a hypnotism act in public, you must apply to us for consent.

What legislation applies?

What are the conditions of consent?

Legislation prohibits demonstration of hypnotism on people under 18 years of age.

The premises at which hypnotism will take place must hold a premises license or a club premises certificate.

You must provide at least 28 days notice before the date of the first performance.

How will my application be determined?

There is no provision in the legislation for determining applications.

How much will it cost?

There are currently no fees for hypnotism consent.

Do I need to provide further information or evidence?

No. However, the premises at which hypnotism will take place must hold a premises license or a club premises certificate.

How long will it take you to process my application?

We will acknowledge receipt of your application within 5 working days.

If acknowledgement of receipt of your application has not been received within 5 days, contact us.

We will the process your application and tell you the outcome within 12 weeks.

If you do not supply the correct information your application will be returned.

Will tacit consent apply?

Yes, tacit consent will apply. This means that you will be able to act as though your application is granted if you have not heard from us by the end of the 12 week target completion period.

How do I tell you about a change that may affect my consent?

If circumstances change regarding time and location of the consent, please contact us.

What if I have a complaint or concern?

As a member of the public, if you have a complaint or concern about a hypnotism act or believe a hypnotist has not been consented, contact us.

Can I view a public register of consents online?

No. If you wish to inspect the public register of consents, contact us.
