If you wish to keep an exotic, dangerous or wild animal, you must be licensed.

The licence aims to protect the welfare of animals whilst under your care and the protection of other persons from harm.

When we grant a licence, we consider the suitability of the accommodation and whether the animals are well fed and protected from disease and fire.

When we grant a licence we must satisfy ourselves that there are no safety, nuisance or animal welfare issues and that you are a suitable person to hold a licence.

In addition, your premises must be inspected by a veterinary surgeon or veterinary practitioner.
