Police cash to provide activities for young people

Young people came together to bid for support from West Midlands Police's Property Act Fund - and scooped £1,000.

Receiving the cheque from Youth Workers Dwight Reed and Saj Rauf and Sgt Martin Hewitt from West Midlands Police are Zahra Simpson, Devante Shearer and Carnell McKenzie

The funding will be used to hold cookery and go-karting sessions for young people in the Heathfield Park area and Wolverhampton City Council Youth Worker Saj Rauf said: "This is fantastic news.

"The young people themselves put together the funding bid and I'm delighted that we'll now be able to stage these activities.

"This is a great way to use funding which has been made available from the Property Act Fund - and just as importantly, it has helped to develop relationships between local young people and the police."
