Apply for a personal licence

A personal licence allows you to sell alcohol and authorise sales of alcohol under the authority of a premises licence.

Criteria for applying

To apply for a personal licence, you have to:

  • be aged 18 or over
  • possess a licensing qualification or be a person of a prescribed description
  • have not forfeited any personal licence in the last five years
  • have no unspent convictions for any relevant or foreign offence

Fees

The fee for a personal licence is £37.

Changes to your name or address

If you change your name or address, you'll need to update your personal licence.

Fees

The fee to update your personal licence with a new name or address is £10.50.

Replacement personal licence

You can replace your personal licence card or counterpart if it has been lost, stolen or damaged.

Fees

The fee to replace your personal licence or counterpart is £10.50.
