Safety of Sports Grounds

Under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975 and the Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sport Act 1987, councils are required to certify certain stadia.

The legislation applies to any designated sporting activity taking place before a covered grandstand capable of holding 500 spectators or more.

The cost of a certificate has an initial fee of £150 to apply or renew with additional officer costs at £38 per hour.
