Tettenhall Wood School, based in Regis Road, unveiled its stunning new facilities during their official opening, performed by the guest of honour GB Special Olympic star Greg Silvester.
Wolverhampton-born Greg previously worked at the school on a casual basis, as a teaching assistant.
He remains a very positive role model to all pupils through assisting at summer fayres, leading assemblies, assisting with Sports week and any other events at school.
The school, which was one of the first to benefit from the Wolverhampton Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme, caters for 90 pupils with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) some of whom may have severe and complex learning difficulties.
The school relocated from its previous base in School Road into purpose built new facilities on Regis Road - sharing a site with The King's School, which represents a £23.5 million BSF investment in both schools.
As well as enjoying performances from pupils, guests were treated to a tour of the new facilities, which includes a hydrotherapy pool, a multi-sensory learning environment, brand new ICT equipment and enhanced community access to the school's sports and leisure facilities.
Spaces have been developed at the school to meet curriculum needs and raise the confidence, aspirations and achievements of pupils. The building is also built to BREEAM standards, meaning they meet high environmentally friendly requirements.
By co-locating to the Regis Road site, children and young people attending Tettenhall Wood will enjoy further benefits in that they will be able to share facilities, equipment and expertise available at King's School.
Councillor Phil Page, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Schools, Skills and Learning, said: "Once again, the benefit of BSF investment in our schools is clear for all to see.
"The pupils have got the essential, enhanced facilities they require that will only help transform the education they receive in the future.
"I am particularly delighted that Greg was able to give up his time to attend today. As a Wolverhampton pupil who has gone on to achieve great things, he is an inspiration to the pupils of Tettenhall Wood.
Mostyn Mahoney, Headteacher, said: "'Pupils have settled in and respond positively to their new environment. All pupils are benefitting from the excellent range of resources that have been designed specifically to meet their needs."
The BSF programme will see a total of 25 schools being either completely rebuilt or refurbished. All works are expected to be complete by September 2015.
