Annual Monitoring Report

The Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) monitors the performance of Wolverhampton's planning policies and the extent to which we are meeting the targets set out in the LDS.

The Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) monitors the performance of Wolverhampton's planning policies and the extent to which we are meeting the targets set out in the LDS.

The Annual Monitoring Report aims to:

  • review the council's progress in implementing the Local Plan programme
  • provide realistic and useful indicators, targets and information to assess if policies are achieving their objectives as intended
  • assess the level of implementation of adopted policies and indicate whether there is scope for any policies to be amended or replaced
  • assist in determining if current policy is making an impact on the wider social, environmental and economic objectives of the council and achieving outcomes which are consistent with sustainable development objectives
  • in particular, ensure that the council has identified sufficient sites to provide 5 years of Housing Land to meet specified housing requirements including affordable housing sites

Under new Government regulations, councils are required to monitor the extent to which policies in the Local Plan documents are being achieved. This monitoring information is to be made available to their communities on-line in the AMR. Councils are no longer required to submit the AMR to Government Office.

The AMR is published annually and monitors the preceding financial year. For example, Wolverhampton's AMR 2013/14 monitored development between 1 April, 2013 and 31 March, 2014. The AMR for the monitoring year 2014/15 will be published and made available for viewing in early 2016.
