Copies of certificates

If you or your family's birth, marriage or death was registered in Wolverhampton from 1837 to the present day, you can request a copy of the certificate.


The standard cost of a copy certificate is:

  • £10 (if you provide a stamped addressed envelope)
  • £11 (including postage sent via First Class)

Applications will be processed within five working days.

How to request a certificate

Everything you need to request a copy certificate can be found in the forms below.

You can place an order over the telephone using a debit or credit card by calling us on 01902 551234. Our lines are open between 9am and 5pm Monday - Thursday, and 9am-4.30pm on Fridays

Then return it to:

The Register Office
Wolverhampton City Council
Civic Centre, St. Peter's Square

Applications via post will need to include a cheque or postal order made payable to 'Superintendent Registrar'.

Please note: The following areas do not fall within the boundary of Wolverhampton, and if the birth, death, or marriage happened in one of these areas, City of Wolverhampton Council will not hold the certificate.
