In total, there are 1,250 services currently listed on the Wolverhampton Information Network - from childminders and care providers to sports clubs and job schemes - and that number is growing all the time.
The new health directory, developed in partnership with Wolverhampton Clinical Commissioning Group, has sections dedicated to wide variety of health issues, with each detailing a wide range of services which are available locally.
They include:
- breathing
- cancer
- children's health
- community services
- complex health needs
- healthy living
- heart and blood
- mental health
- physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapies
- sexual health, pregnancy and baby
- urgent and emergency care
- vision, hearing and mobility
People can also use a special search function on the Wolverhampton Information Network to find their nearest GP, dentist, pharmacy or opticians simply by typing in their postcode.
The health directory is the latest addition to the Wolverhampton Information Network, which already has comprehensive sections offering information and advice and details of support available to adults, carers, families and children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
Councillor Sandra Samuels OBE, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Adult Services, said: "Since its launch in 2015, the Wolverhampton Information Network has grown to become an indispensable one stop shop for people who want to find out about the help, support and activities available locally, and for service providers and community groups to showcase their services to a wider audience.
"I am delighted that the Wolverhampton Information Network has grown to include this important health channel, providing information about a wide range of conditions and ways in which people can improve their health and wellbeing."
Andrea Smith, Wolverhampton Clinical Commissioning Group's Head of Integrated Commissioning, said: "I am really pleased that, working with the City of Wolverhampton Council, we have been able to include valuable health information into this great City wide resource for the public of Wolverhampton."
The Wolverhampton Information Network is designed to be used by frontline practitioners, service users and members of the public. It enables people to search quickly and easily via a particular issue or topic, or find activities and events close to home by searching using postcodes.
Councillor Samuels added: "We are always looking to improve the Wolverhampton Information Network and make it as user friendly as possible, and so I would encourage people to share their feedback with us by emailing webmaster@wolverhampton.gov.uk or by calling 01902 553413 so that we can make their experience even better.
"I would also encourage any local organisations who don't yet have a presence on the Wolverhampton Information Network to log on to the website and upload details of services they provide."
