Temporary closure of library to enable modernisation work

Whitmore Reans Library will be temporarily unavailable to customers to enable improvement work to take place.

It will be closed from this Sunday (9 September) to Sunday 1 October for the next phase of maintenance, during which the library will be redecorated and the internal layout reviewed to create additional space. Already, exterior work has been completed on the building, including the installation of new windows.

During the temporary closure, customers can use alternative libraries in the City - the nearest are Central Library on Snow Hill, Tettenhall Library on Upper Street and Pendeford Library, Whitburn Close - and can also renew items books on line at Libraries or via the 24-hour renewals line, 01902 552500.

Councillor John Reynolds, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for City Economy, said: "As part of our transformation strategy for libraries, we are always seeking ways to improve library spaces and make them modern, vibrant and sustainable - and while in other parts of the country, libraries are closing, we are continuing to invest in these important community assets.

"We are carrying out this work at Whitmore Reans to make the library building more welcoming to customers, and also taking the opportunity to review the layout of the library so that we can maximise the use of space. I would like to thank customers for bearing with us while this essential work is completed."
